A Clarion Call to the Honorable Minister of Works and the Federal Government of Nigeria

The leadership and entire members of Ekiti Kwara Youth Navigators (EKYN), a development-oriented youth association in Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State, extend profound gratitude to the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for its ongoing efforts in revitalizing infrastructure across various parts of the country.

However, we find it imperative to draw urgent attention to the deplorable condition of Federal roads within the Ekiti and Oke-Ero Local Government Areas of Kwara State. These roads, which serve as critical lifelines for our people, have deteriorated beyond acceptable standards—hampering daily transportation, disrupting local economic activities, and posing grave safety risks to commuters.

Our observations reveal a consistent pattern: rehabilitation projects from the Federal Government often terminate at Omu-Aran, the gateway town to the southern axis of Kwara. This persistent neglect of the Ekiti block raises deep concerns and demands immediate answers. Why does infrastructural development routinely exclude our communities?

We therefore issue this clarion call to:

*Senator Lola Ashiru* , representing Kwara South Senatorial District

*Hon. Tunji Ajuloopin* , Honourable Member representing Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Irepodun, and Isin Federal Constituency

The Federal Ministry of Works, under the leadership of the Honorable Minister, David Umahi, to urgently intervene and ensure that these roads receive the attention they have long been denied.

We strongly advocate for immediate rehabilitation of the affected road networks as a short-term measure, pending full-scale reconstruction. This action will not only ease the suffering of the people but also stimulate commerce, agriculture, and general mobility across the region.

The time for action is now. Our communities deserve equal access to development and inclusion in the national infrastructure agenda.

Signed:

Ekiti Kwara Youth Navigators (EKYN)

23rd April, 2025.
